Kia ora, I’m Rochelle Stewart-Allen, The NGO Coach

I am the founder of The NGO Coach and work at the intersection of nonprofit leadership, governance, sustainability, and systems change.
Through my mahi on ‘Reimagining Nonprofit Leadership‘, I support leaders and organisations navigating complexity, leadership overload, growth, and organisational transition.
My approach combines reflective leadership support, facilitation, systems thinking, and practical governance insight to help nonprofit leaders build more sustainable, human, and future-fit ways of working.
Based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, I work with nonprofit leaders across Aotearoa New Zealand who are exploring new possibilities for leadership beyond burnout, over-functioning, and outdated organisational models.
My Values

Why I Do This Mahi
I created The NGO Coach because I believe leaders and organisations deserve support that is practical, thoughtful, and grounded in the realities they’re working within.
Too many people are carrying significant responsibility without enough space to think clearly, reflect honestly, or work through complexity well.
My role is not to arrive with one-size-fits-all answers.
It’s to listen carefully, ask good questions, help make sense of what’s happening, and support people to move forward in ways that are practical, sustainable, and aligned with their values.

How I Work
I work alongside:
- nonprofits navigating growth, change, or complexity
- social enterprises balancing purpose and sustainability
- government agencies and funders wanting stronger sector relationships
- philanthropic organisations seeking meaningful impact
- purpose-driven businesses exploring community and social impact partnerships
My role is often part strategist, part facilitator, and part trusted thinking partner — helping people move from overwhelm and uncertainty toward clearer direction and purposeful action.
What You Can Expect
You can expect warmth, honesty, practical thinking, and clear communication.
I create space for reflection while also helping people move forward with confidence and momentum.
My approach is grounded, relational, and shaped by real-world leadership experience across nonprofits, governance, systems change, and community-focused work.
This feels more grounded and easier to absorb.

If You’re Here
Whether you’re a leader feeling stretched, a board member seeking clearer direction, a funder wanting stronger partnership, or an organisation navigating change — you don’t have to work through it all alone.
This is a space for thoughtful leadership, grounded action, and practical support that feels human and sustainable.
If you’d like to connect or explore working together, I’d love to hear from you.
